In order to keep my Article Marketing campaign consistent I try to write at least one article per day, and sometimes two. There are days when this is more difficult than others. There are days when the ideas and the script just flow from the keyboard, and then there are days when I’m hard pressed to string a logical sentence together. To overcome the latter I’ve developed a few techniques which help me get past the dreaded writer’s block, which can bring your article marketing campaign to a screeching halt.
The first thing I try when I can’t come up with a new idea or a fresh approach is take pen to paper instead of fingers to keyboard. Sit down with a blank sheet of paper and start jotting down your thoughts related to your topic as they come to mind. I call this getting back to basics because you’re away from the keyboard and back to how we learned to write and sometimes this can get the creative juices flowing again.
If this doesn’t work then take a break from the situation entirely. File it away for a later time and move on to something else. Try not to think about it while you’re away from it and when you return to the topic you should feel like you’re approaching a new situation which may stimulate some fresh ideas.
Another approach you can try, if you have the time, is exercise. Go for a walk or run or whatever is your favorite mode of workout. I find this to be very stimulating because it helps get the blood flowing to all areas including the brain, which is what we need at the moment. Right after your workout make another attempt at writing your editorial.
Something else I’ve tried, and with great success, is changing my surroundings. Take your laptop and go to your favorite WI-FI coffee shop. A new environment combined with a jolt of caffeine can help give you a fresh approach to the situation and help inspire your creativity.
Another technique which has also worked for me in the past is reading other articles related to my topic. Sometimes when you see another perspective it inspires you to envision a different approach which kindles or fuels an innovative plan of attack.
One of my favorite tricks for overcoming writer’s block is just vegging out. Go sit in front of the TV, have a snack and watch the food network. Just relaxing and not thinking about writing for awhile can sometimes do wonders for the creative process.
One final approach I have also tried is listening to my favorite music. I also find this to be very relaxing and sometimes I even do this while I’m writing. I find it helps keep me upbeat and motivated which is what we all need at one time or another.
These are just some of the activities I have tried to help get the creative juices flowing again and help me overcome writer’s block. If one of these approaches doesn’t work I’m sure some of the others will help get the article writing and article marketing process back on track.
