When you’re just starting out online with your home based business the first thing you’ll want to do is start building your email list and after your visitors have signed up you should make them a product offer. This can be accomplished by creating a basic opt-in page added to a sales funnel for your product.
Your basic funnel will be made up of 4 essential parts beginning with your squeeze page or opt-in page also called your landing page. The main objective of this page is to capture your visitor’s contact information including their name and email address. You can offer a free product to entice people to subscribe to your list and you should make sure it’s a viable, valuable piece of merchandise that’s targeted toward your niche.
The whole idea behind this page is to help build your email list so you should keep it simple and straight forward by simply explaining to your visitors they will receive this free product if they enter their name and email address in the box provided. It’s important that you tell people what to do because some of them may be new to the process and it helps to make the transaction easy to understand.
Once your visitor has joined your list you should now direct them to your one time offer also known as your OTO. On this page you should explain their free product is on its way but in the mean time ask them to please have a look at this one time offer you’ve provided which will help them with their online home business. This OTO will eventually lead to your up sell which will be your main product offer.
After they’ve looked at your one time product offer and they’ve purchased you can now take them to a thank you page where they can download their purchase. If they decide to pass on your offer you can add a link at the bottom of your OTO page which will take them directly to their free merchandise. Of course, you should thank your new customer for doing business with you and you can then direct them to your main product offer or your up sell.
Your product page or your sales page will offer your up sell which is a more expensive item and is your main objective after having taken your new subscriber from the opt-in page stage to a place where you now want them to purchase this additional product.
Some Internet marketers may want to stop the sales process after the customer has purchased the one time offer and then promote their up sell through their email marketing campaign instead of trying to make another sale immediately after the first purchase. However. my belief is you should strike while the iron is hot and if your prospect is in a buying mood why not promote your more expensive item immediately.
However, which ever approach you take your basic sales funnel made up of your landing page, your OTO page, your thank you page and your product page is the starting point for your online home business and Internet marketing success.
