The two hottest topics among Internet marketers on the Web are usually list building and traffic generation. So it makes sense that the most sought after information products are usually anything related to building a large list of hungry buyers or merchandise related to driving hordes of targeted traffic to your website.
As home business owners online we all know the money is in the list and in order to ensure longevity for your Internet enterprise you must have a large list comprised of prospective customers and current clients for your future promotions. Of course, without having visitors drop by your website there’s no way to build your email list or to make sales.
However, sometimes you see websites attracting massive amounts of traffic on a regular basis but these visitors aren’t translating into sales and profits. So you might ask what good is having crowds of people coming to your home page if they aren’t buying your products? That’s a very good question which may be interpreted as an argument for bigger profits taking priority over more traffic for your home business.
Most Internet marketers dedicate hours of their time, day after day, slaving away trying to attract targeted prospects to their web page while ignoring what they’re going to do with them when they get there. In other words, if you don’t have a plan in place for converting your guests into paying customers why are you working so hard to get them there in the first place?
Shouldn’t your primary concern be your conversion rate which is directly related to your sales and profits on the Internet? Some may argue that without traffic you have no hope for sales and profits. This is a legitimate response, but wouldn’t you be better served as an Internet marketer by making the most of the visitors you do receive by turning them into customers and then concentrating on building a relationship with them which may convert them into long term clients who buy from you again and again.
Isn’t our main goal as entrepreneurs to make the most money with the least amount of wasted effort? People who succeed online are able to make the most out of what they have and this is particularly true of the potential customers who visit their website, no matter how many there are, on any particular day.
If business A has 100 people drop by on a particular day and is able to convince 50 of them to do business while business B has 1000 visitors on the same day and is only able to convert 50 into sales and profits which enterprise would you rather own? Business A with a 50% conversion rate or business B with a 5% success rate; I think the numbers speak for themselves.
In my opinion, concentrating on converting your prospects into customers is more important than the number of people who visit your home business home page on any given day because our main goal as entrepreneurs is to make sales and profits which translates into success online.
